Welcome to the second episode of our Lockdown Day Ticket Tactics series with big-carp catching machine, Dave Levy. Lockdown restrictions due to COVID-19 at the beginning of 2021 have meant that angling can only be done during the hours of daylight, so, with that, we sent Dave off to the banks of day ticket fisheries in the UK, with the aim of him catching carp on limited time and at fisheries that are accessible to all. So, if you want to make the most of day session fishing for carp and want to find out how, then you can watch as Dave approaches a variety of day ticket waters with a number of different carp fishing tactics and angling techniques. Episode 2 sees Dave take on China Lane, aka Slayer House and with temperatures still being low, it’s never going to be an easy task to catch carp in the day, unless you’re happy to watch the water and adapt, that is. Sitting on your hands will never bring you results on short sessions, and Dave excels once again. Adapting his approach to what he sees happening at the lake and armed with solid PVA bags and a Slip-D Rotator Rig, things start slowly, until he spots a fish roll and goes in with a change of tactic by casting a Zig to the area. He willingness to adapt his angling to the fishing situation pays dividends in a matter of minutes with a 20lb plus mirror, which is later followed by some success for his single high attract hookbait too. With two fish captures to his name in the dwindling hours of winter daylight he’s still able to get home in time to watch an episode of “Married at first sight”. That’s what fishing winter days is all about, and thanks to his perseverance and willingness to adapt, Dave reaps the rewards once again. Sit back, enjoy and learn a little along the way too.
