The Blow Back Rig

What you will need.

Hook of your choice
Coated braid of your choice
Small diameter silicone tubing (we will be using 0.75mm)
Rig tool
Scissors

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig - What you need

Cut your desired length of coated braid long enough for your fishing situation.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 1

Strip off 5 inches of coating, this will create your hinge effect making it difficult for the fish to eject.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 2

Tie a simple over hand loop knot & trim off the tag end, this will be for you bait of choice & for the start of your hair rig.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 3

Now thread your chosen boilie onto the hair/loop, we do this first so the hair is the right length for your bait & the right distance away from the hook.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 4

Cut 5mm of silicone tubing and slide down the braided hook link material.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 5

Thread the hook on point down through the centre of the silicone tubing.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 6

Slide around the bend of the hook until its level with point, adjust the length of hair by pulling the braid up through the tubing leaving a 4mm – 5mm gap.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 7

Now start to perform a knotless knot, place the loose end through the back of the eye towards the point.
Whip down the shank 5 times then put the tag end through the back of the eye towards point. Then pull down tight. It should now look like this, leaving roughly 1 inch of stripped back braid for a more natural looking presentation and better hooking properties.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 8

The reason for the silicone is to aid hooking ability, causing the tubing to slide down the shank when being rejected, slowing the bait down leaving the hook in the carps mouth longer increasing the hooking potential.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 9

Tie your desired length with either a standard size 8 swivel or create a figure of 8 loop knot to connect to a quick change swivel.

How to Tie a Blow Back Rig Step 10

The rig is now complete.
