It is our understanding that the three largest common carp in the Yateley North Lake have unfortunately passed away this week.
It is unclear how these fish died, but it has been suggested it was down to stress during spawning. Top of the tree, Murray at over 51lb, was Yateley’s largest living carp and was set for legendary status. We will bring more news as and when we get it regarding the famous pit.
It’s so sad to here of the deaths of the fish at the north lake at yateley. I recall the lake back in the mid 1980s when there was only about 7 to 8 carp over 18lbs. Old bas at 45ish,the 37 or was it 33. A 27,25lb and a couple of others. In those days there would be only a couple of anglers there even at weekends. To much pressure, bait, noise(over fishing) these days maybe???It was quite and peaceful overthere back then. How have things have changed. You could get a half season(winter ticket) for the hole yateley complete for about 20 quid back then and there was not many anglers especially mid week. The good old days. Lets hope it bounces back(nature if lelf alone finds away)
