Southampton-based tackle retailers Poingdestres has donated a range of fishing equipment to help Care after Combat provide support for veterans.
It has been found by associated charity, Fishibility UK, that fishing is a very therapeutic pastime and can help ex-service personnel live normal lives after they have finished serving in the Armed Forces.
Care after Combat executive chairman and comedian, Jim Davidson OBE, said: “As most carp anglers look like SAS men anyway, it’s only natural for the fishing community to want to help our veterans. I’m particularly thrilled my favourite fishing tackle shop, Poingdestres, has joined our quest to make the lives of our veterans a little easier; I just hope they catch more fish than I do!”
Poingdestres Angling Centre owner, Steve Poingdestre, said: “Jim’s made us aware of Fishability UK and as a regular customer of ours we are pleased to support this incentive and Care after Combat on their journey to help veterans. I am personally passionate about helping ex-servicemen get their lives back, and carp fishing is a great place to start.”
