Anglers targeting the venues in the Lee Valley Park are rejoicing at proposed plans to reduce the cost of parking around the 27 gravel pits and 21 stretches of river in the park.
Originally a fee of £50 on top of member’s ticket fees was suggested, but following an intervention from the Angling Trust, the price has been reduced to £20.
Martin Salter of the Angling Trust stated: “We became aware that a number of anglers who use the Lee Valley Park were concerned about the proposed increase in parking charges and we wrote to the Chief Executive to press for some recognition for anglers in the new parking structure. We are glad that the Park Authorities and the Fisheries Team have responded positively and that those fishing the park will now be spared the full cost of the hike in charges.”
