The Biv Monkies Lads v Lasses match at Drayton Reservoir, Northamptonshire, was won convincingly by the female team, courtesy of a number of fish to 20lb.
The friendly match was held during Women’s Sport Week as a means of encouraging females to get out on the bank and sample the joys of carp fishing. With six anglers lining up on each side, it was the ladies who took a commanding lead, thanks to mid-doubles for the likes of Jade, Dilly, Claire and Lisa, and victory was assured when Jade landed a new personal best of 20lb.
The organisers have passed on their thanks to Urban Bait, who provided bait for the competitors, Mark, Angie and the Canal and the River Trust for giving up the swims on the venue for the match to take place, and Carp-Talk’s Bev Clifford for inspiring women to give carp fishing a try.
