This summer will see the launch of a new competition for junior anglers at Windsor View Front Lake, which organisers hope will go some way to filling the void left by the now-defunct British Young Carpers’ Young Championship.
The event, known as the Junior Carp Championships, is open to youngsters up to the age of 17. There will be two 10-hour qualifying matches at the Berkshire venue on 24th and 25th August, with the top six in each heat progressing through to a 24-hour final, beginning on 26th August.
The event will carry a top prize of £500 in cash, a trophy, a year’s subscription to Carp-Talk and a 24-hour tuition with Dave Levy and a copy of his book Fallen Kings, amongst other prizes still to be announced. The event is fully subscribed, but anybody wishing to put their name down on the reserve list should contact organiser Neil Richards on neil.a.richards@icloud.com.
