Angling Direct PLC will open a 5000 sq ft showroom in Swindon next month after completing a deal with fishing tackle and bait retailer, Hinders of Swindon, to supply to the local customer base currently serviced by Hinders Fishing Superstore.
The new showroom is located on Hawksworth Trading Estate, Wyndham Road, less than a mile away from the Hinders store, and is currently in the process of being redeveloped and fitted out. The new Angling Direct store is expected to open around mid-August.
Angling Direct commercial manager Stewart Downing confirmed the new Swindon store will be managed by highly regarded carp angler Kev Hewitt, who will transfer over from Hinders, along with Cullum Large, who joins as part of the sales consultancy team for the new business.
Hinders will continue to sell its own branded bait at the Manor Garden Centre site and online. The move enables Hinders to focus on its growing demand for bait. “I am delighted with the agreement, especially given the new sales and distribution potential within Angling Direct, further accelerating the growth opportunities of the bait business,” said Hinders MD Bryan Jarrett.
Darren Bailey, CEO of Angling Direct PLC, commented that the dialogue on this proposition had been ongoing for some time and that it was great to strike a deal that was so collaborative in its nature. It will allow Hinders to focus on its core competencies of bait development and manufacturing and bring out other synergies, including the potential joint development of a new bait range, distribution and sale of all the Hinders bait ranges through all Angling Direct sales channels, including the new Swindon store.
Details about the exact opening date of the new Angling Direct store will be confirmed in due course. Further information about Angling Direct is available at www.anglingdirect.co.uk.
