We are spoilt for choice these days when it comes to high quality hooks, but these new offerings from Fox International are amongst the best I’ve seen.
It was extraordinary learning just what goes into producing a range of unique hooks. Fox could have simply taken several satisfactory hook patterns straight from the manufacturer’s catalogue, slapped the Edges logo on them and I’m sure most people would have lapped it up. Thankfully that’s not what Fox is about and I know I’m right when I tell you the team have poured their hearts into creating these bespoke hooks and can be proud of what they have achieved.
So what’s so good about them? Well all the new Edges Arma Point Hooks feature heavier gauge wire throughout the range, making them super strong, and specially honed elongated points that sink easily into flesh. All hook patterns are constructed from a super-strong yet lightweight XC80 Vanadium forged steel and feature a dark non-reflective coating. There are eight new patterns in total and each pack of 10 hooks retails at £4.25. Edges Curve Shank – This is an improved version of the original Arma Point SSC design and is especially suited to bottom bait and wafter presentations. The aggressive curved shank helps the hook to turn and grab hold in the fish’s mouth, the needle-sharp straight point further enhances hooking performance. Available in a wide range of sizes: barbed 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8; and barbless 6 and 8.
Edges Curve Shank Short – An improved version of the original Arma Point XSC design, this hook features a straight eye and short, sweeping shank making it perfect for both bottom bait and pop-up presentations. Only available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Edges Curve Shank Medium – Featuring an aggressive medium-length curved shank, an in-turned eye and needle-sharp straight point this pattern is ideally suited for the popular 360 rig presentation. Available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and barbless sizes 6 and 8. Edges Wide Gape Straight – Featuring an aggressive 25º in-turned eye and extra long, needle-sharp straight point, this is another multifunctional hook that can be used for both bottom bait and pop-up presentations. Available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and barbless sizes 6 and 8.
Edges Wide Gape Beaked – This is a much improved version of the original Arma Point SSBP design. The beaked point makes the hook perfect for bottom bait fishing on hard gravel lake beds and the 10º in-turned eye helps the hook turn quickly allowing the needle-sharp point to embed into flesh. Available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and barbless sizes 6 and 8. Edges Stiff Rig Beaked – Fans of the original Arma Point SR design will love this new improved Edges version. Perfect for pop-up presentations such as chod, hinged stiff and multi-rigs, it is also suited to bottom bait stiff rig presentations. The 25º out-turned eye makes it suitable for use with super-stiff monofilaments. The extra large eye allows even thick diameter hooklink materials to pass through multiple times with ease. Available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and barbless sizes 6 and 8.
Edges Stiff Rig Straight – Much like the Stiff Rig Beaked, this straight point version is tailored to chod, hinged stiff and multi-rigs. Available in barbed sizes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and barbless sizes 6 and 8.
Edges Zig & Floater – Designed specifically for use with zig and surface rigs, this super sharp hook can also be used for more subtle bottom bait presentations. Available in barbed sizes 6, 8 and 10, and barbless sizes 6, 8 and 10.
