This Mere is a long established water and has an abundance of natural food, it has a few beds of water lilies and some nice features around the island at the far end and on the lake bed. The lake depth varies from a few inches to a depth of approximately 19 feet, with an average depth of 6 feet. The bottom is firm in places and silty in others. There is no fishing from the field side of this lake. There are a maximum of 15 angler’s allowed to fish this lake at any one time.

The Mere contains original carp over 20lbs and the Society has an ongoing stocking policy with this water. We have stocked several strains of carp over the past few years and now have fish over 30lb. The lake has good head of Pike and these have been caught to 24lb in recent times. The Mere also held the Cheshire Bream record with a fish over 11lbs for a short time in the 70s. Tench have been caught in the past few years to over double figures and are in superb condition, Perch to over 3lbs, Roach, Rudd and Crucian Carp. This is an excellent fishery which is really gathering speed as the fish stocks mature
