Farlows Lake 1 Reviews
Farlows lake is the result of a gravel extraction that begun as early as the 1930s, since the 80s it has been a mecca of Carp fishing and its popularity as a Carp water has grown exponentially in the last 3 decades.
About Farlows lake 1
With an estimated 1200 Carp in 25 acres of water there is always a good chance of catching Carp with the average weight being 17lbs – 22lbs.
There are over thirty five 30lb plus Carp in the lake with the largest resident, ‘the Pretty one’ reaching highs of over 42lbs. In 2013 the lake was stocked with 20 fast growing Leney/Dink strain Carp that weighed up to 22lbs, these fish are already growing nicely and we envisage an approximate weight gain of 5lbs per year.
The original Carp are dark and scaley with some real old characters. Commons and mirrors are plentiful and it is safe to say there are very few day ticket waters offering such a top drawer head of English fish to go for.
Farlows lake 1 tactics
Tactics needn’t be complicated with simple rigs and high quality food baits taking the majority of the captures. With so many Carp to target they are hungry and respond well to beds of boilies. Other methods that score well at the right time of year are floating dog biscuit and zig rigs fished a few feet under the surface.
Farlows lake 1 best swims
Some of the best swims are peg 43, 33, Scotts (peg 61) , 2, 3 & 4.

One of the best day ticket lakes in the country fished it over a year and lost count of the 30s and 20s I’ve caught! over 50 30s and a few 40s and hundreds of upper 20s and doubles in this lake little channels! Ireland’s! Open waters! You will not be disappointed if your on the fish you can have a very good session let your eyes find the fish don’t just camp out!
Recently visited the fishery at the start of February.first time being there and very impressed with the staff, facilities and the lakes. I will be visiting again for sure?
The carp are stunning the lake is amazing with a great shop on site the shop team along with the bailiffs you can get all the help you need I love the place
Great venue, brilliant fishing, statf and onsite facilities and shop are all good. So many seaguls though and rats though so watch your bait and food. The rats are cheeky aswell they come right into your bivvy, theyre definately not scared haha!
Great venue, great fish. Very weedy in the summer months though despite the weed cutting. Beware of the mussel beds. Defo worth a visit if you can get a swim as it gets banged out most weekends
A great venue , a full of stunning carp.
Great place with great fish and staff. The litter and rats on the other hand is out of control!
Lovely lake really enjoyed fishing it alot of lazy anglers leaving there rubbish behind
Farlows lake 1 is a must visit lake. Charlie the baliff is really helpful and an assett to the establishment. If you have not visited yet put it in your calendar
One of the best lakes in the country, loads of quality fish to go at and an all round cracking venue.
Farlows is an awesome fishery with some stunning looking carp and some real old Characters. Charlie And Scott the bailiffs are spot on and the advise they give is priceless.Farlows is very popular and can get very busy
Great facilities, great management and amazing fish! The only downside is how extremely busy the lake is which makes it difficult to move on to fish. I guess popularity is inevitable when everything else on the lake is spot on
Lovely place staff are great just the rubbish left behind by inconsiderate anglers some of the best looking carp in country
